FAQ

What cut should I book?

All new clients should book a 90 minute session. If your hair is very thick and very long I recommend booking 120 minutes. These longer appointments allow for a thorough consultation that won’t interrupt the time spent executing the haircut. I only charge for the time used. If you need more guidance on which timeframe to book please send me a message!

Where are you located?

Strangebird Salon-Central is located in the Seaholm District at 830 W 3rd St, Unit 1134 Austin, TX 78701.

Where can I park?

We have free parking in the Gables Resident and Retail parking building located directly across the street from Trader Joe’s. You will see a gate with with a keypad. The code is 1134. You can park anywhere that isn’t restricted. You can leave the garage by exiting through the gray door located near the stairwell on the first floor. You’ll go right onto the sidewalk and go all the way down to the corner of 3rd St and Bowie St. where you will see our salon in the corner unit. These instructions can also be found in your confirmation email that you will receive after booking your appointment.

How do I reschedule?

You will receive an appointment reminder two days prior through text and email. You can confirm or reschedule as needed. If you need to reschedule before that time simply log back in to the profile you created through Square when booking the appointment. If you need further assistance feel free to send me a message. Please read about my 24-hour cancellation policy in your confirmation email.

How do I prep my hair?

Please come in with your hair worn either naturally or how you “normally” wear it styled. No more than a day old is best but if it still feels clean and looks good then I don’t mind it a little “lived in.”

Please don’t wear it in a ponytail or pulled back as I prefer to see how your hair falls naturally. ESPECIALLY IF THIS IS A CURLY CUT! I need to see your curls intact for best results.

Where can I buy product?

What is drycutting?

This a technique where the whole cut is done on dry hair. This allows me to work with growth patterns, curls, cowlicks and density as they are.

Who is drycutting good for?

Everyone! However, I consider this type of cut best for those who wear their hair naturally (i.e., curly hair or wash-and-wear clients).

Do you do wet cuts?

Yes, I decide during the consultation if a wet cut is needed for the desired result.
